PRE-EMPLOYMENT TRANSITION SERVICES FOR STUDENTS WITH DISABILITIES (PRE-ETS)
WHY CREATED?: Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS) were created as part of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA).
WHAT IS PRE-ETS? : Pre-ETS are coordinated activities for a student with a disability/exceptionality designed within an outcome-oriented process that promotes movement from school to post-school activities, including post-secondary education, vocational training, continuing and adult education, adult services, independent living, community participation, or competitive integrated employment (including supported employment).
Pre- ETS activities are available statewide to all students who need the services at no cost to the school.
G.R.O.W.T.H Services has partnered with the Louisiana Rehabilitation Services (LRS) to provide pre-ETS to students with disabilities/ exceptionalities.
WHEN CAN YOU BEGIN?: Pre-ETS activities may begin once a student requests or is recommended for one or more services AND documentation of disability/ exceptionality ( signed IEP, 504 accom., or medical documentation signed by a medical professional).
WHAT DOES IT INCLUDE?: Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS) include:
Job Exploration Counseling
Counseling, guidance, and training to assist students in identifying and learning about job opportunities
Work-Based Learning Experience
Necessary skills needed to place in employment. (Employer site visits, short-term employment, job shadowing, etc. )
Counseling on Opportunities for Enrollment
FASFA, College applications, career options, resources to support students
Workplace Readiness Training
Soft skills training, work-based social skills, work behavior, etc.
Instruction In Self Advocacy
To promote self-advocacy and leadership skills (communicating thoughts and needs, mentoring opportunities, learning about rights and responsibilities)
